Gary Jenkins is a compelling storyteller. His first book, The National Institutes of Hellth, is a hybrid of personal memoir and investigative expose, delivered in a passionate and honest first-person voice. He tracks his rise, fall, and ultimate personal growth. His aim is to shine light on a systemic failure at our nation’s distinguished medical research institute, while also offering a cautionary tale about maintaining one’s principles in a hostile environment. Jenkins uses his strong, distinctive, and unfiltered voice, along with his background in science, to set the record straight. He writes with the earnestness of someone who has lived through a grave injustice.
He has an undergraduate degree in Zoology, and holds a Master’s degree in Biology. From the Land-of-Lincoln, Jenkins moved to Bethesda, Maryland in 1993 to join a team of researchers in a neuroscience laboratory.
